The next meeting will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 3, at 2126 N. University Avenue in Peoria.  Minutes of the September meeting are being mailed to members.  The October Meeting will be used to tag and price items for the Guild Sale coming up on November 5.

We were happy to welcome guests, Jo, Sarah, Ruth, and Susan.

Rosepath Study Group

The program for the September meeting was the Rosepath Towel Exchange and completion of the Rosepath Study Group.  We all expressed many thanks to Jennie Hawkey for shepherding us through this process.  All agreed that it was a wonderfully fun learning experience and all the towels are unique and beautiful.

A Very Helpful Hint

From

Weaver’s Craft

Most warps use even number of ends so it is easy to remember to go over the floating selvedge when entering the shed and under the floating selvedge when exiting the shed.

However many overshot patterns require an odd number of warp threads to make the pattern symmetrical.

On Warps with ODD Numbers:

Go under both floating selvedges when traveling from the left.

Go over both selvedges when traveling from the right.

                        Thanks Judy!!

First Annual Potluck

A huge “THANKS “ to Lise’ and Bob Mundwiller for hosting a fun-filled afternoon and evening on September 10.  Everyone has a GREAT time!  Good friends, good food…..the newsletter should have lots of new recipes coming…hint, hint.

Hummingbirds

Now that it’s migration season for these small birds, it’s good to remember that they are among nature’s fiber artists.  They routinely use webs “borrowed” from spiders and caterpillars to weave the linings for their diminutive nests.  These web fibers are so strong, they can be repeatedly adjusted during nest building.

Dues Are Due!

Treasurer, Ellie Slusser continues to accept dues for the 2006-2007 membership year.

Weavers’ Challenge

President Joan has suggested we stretch our minds a bit and have a “weavers’ challenge” at each meeting.  We will print the “Challenge” in the newsletter.  Each member will think about it and bring an idea about it to the next meeting.  These ideas can be woven, drawn, or just described.  Joan will bring a prize for one of the ideas…..how the prize will be awarded is yet to be decided.  It may be by voting or drawing out of a basket.

Weavers’ Challenge #1:  Figure out a way to recycle something in weaving other than rag rugs.

We will work on the first “Weaver’s Challenge” for one more month.  Bring your ideas to the October meeting so you can be included in the drawing for a prize.

Ideas will be published in the next newsletter so we will all learn from one another.

Newsletter

Articles, ideas, information, and news are always welcomed for the newsletter.  Items may be e-mailed or snail -mailed to Margo Tennis.  The newsletter is usually printed on the Tuesday before each monthly meeting so it would be helpful if items were received by the Monday of the week before the meeting.
 THANKS!!
